Viterra offers seasonal storage and handling work throughout all regions of South Australia during the grain harvest period. These positions are ideally suited for individuals seeking casual employment from September to February.

Harvest employment may run from September to February, subject to location and weather. Updates will be provided to applicants where possible.

IMG_2059Bulk Grain Handler

Bulk grain handling staff members make up the majority of Viterra’s harvest workforce. They perform a variety of roles using harvest equipment and machinery, particularly to unload grain carrying trucks at the silo. This position is hands-on and would suit someone who enjoys working in a team environment. Staff will receive extensive training to safely perform the role.

Weighbridge Officer

The weighbridge operator is responsible for the front-line of customer service. Their main tasks involve weighing grain trucks before and after being unloaded. The operator is required to accurately enter data into a computer relating to each load that has been received. This position would suit a person with previous front-line customer service experience, good communication skills as well as data entry skills.

IMG_2036Grain Classifier

Grain classifiers are responsible for assessing characteristics of grain to determine an appropriate classification. Employees will receive extensive training in the classification processes including the characteristics of grain and will usually work within a team of classifiers and in the interim will work under the guidance of a senior classifier. This position would suit a hands-on person who has an eye for detail. The ability to remain calm under pressure would be an advantage as would data entry skills and previous customer service experience.
