Viterra promoted South Australian grain and its network at the inaugural Australian Grains Industry Conference (AGIC) India in Mumbai earlier this month.
The event brought together buyers, end users, consumers and regulators from across India with members of the Australian grain industry.
Viterra Pulses Trader Australia, Joshua Marks presented as part of a panel which explored the supply and demand outlook for Australian grain, providing insights into the pulse sector.
Joshua says India is an important export market, particularly for Australian pulses.
“India is a rapidly expanding market for agricultural commodities, and a key market for pulses which we have seen through increased trade with the country over the past year,” Joshua says.
“This has been supported by the Australian and Indian Governments through initiatives such as 50% tariff reduction on Australian lentil imports into India under an Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), granted for a set volume.
“The inaugural AGIC India is another great step in facilitating more trade between India and Australia to benefit local growers, by allowing us to showcase the Australian supply chain and strengthen relationships with buyers and end users.”
Viterra Chief Executive Officer India, Manek Gupta also joined a panel at the event discussing Indian supply chains and markets.
Another key aspect of the conference for Viterra’s attendees was connecting with buyers and end users, supporting the company’s focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
During March, Viterra attended AGIC Asia over two days in Bangkok, Thailand and Shanghai, China, which provided an additional opportunity for Viterra to connect with new and existing customers.
At the events, Viterra General Manager Quality & Inventory Australia, Julie O’Dea joined a panel of experts to discuss the 2024/25 Australian crop. Julie spoke about how many southern Australian growers achieved excellent quality despite low rainfall.
Viterra is proud to sponsor AGIC Asia and India, and values attending these events which allow the company to promote grain delivered to its network and strengthen relationships with international customers.
