The 100th vessel of South Australian farmers’ grain from our network was loaded at Port Lincoln over the weekend, as we continue our 2026/27 shipping programme to deliver essential food, feed and fuel to the world.
We also reached a shipping milestone earlier in the month, surpassing 4 million tonnes of exports, and have now connected grain to consumers in 33 countries on behalf of nine exporters.
Farmers delivered 1,800 tonnes to our network during May.
Bunge Brings Country Connect to Rural SA for Third Year
The third year of our Country connect programme is underway, bringing a team from the Adelaide Football Club to three rural South Australian towns for community football weekends.
During May we held two of the 2026 events, bringing the Crows to the Eyre United Football Club, Ungarra, and Loxton North Football Club, Loxton for Saturday match day activities and Sunday junior coaching clinics.
The third Country connect event for this year will be held at the Blyth Snowtown Football Club, Blyth on 13–14 June.
“We’re extremely pleased to continue this programme for a third year, building on the strong response from the communities who participated in the weekends the last two years,” says Jane McBride, Bunge Communications Manager. “Country connect is about giving back to the communities that support our business and offering them a unique experience close to home. Local sporting clubs play a critical role in keeping regional communities active and connected, whether you’re out on the ground or cheering from the sidelines.”
Past Crows AFL and AFLW players attending Bunge’s Country connect weekends are involved with supporting the club’s Saturday matches and evening event and pass on their football skills as part of the junior football clinic on Sunday.
“These weekends are a great opportunity to further build on the club’s connection with country footy and visit more rural and regional areas that are so passionate about the game,” Peter Caven, Adelaide Football Club Premiership Player, who attended a weekend in Wirrulla last year, says. “I’m looking forward to visiting more regional clubs, supporting game days and helping to build the love of the game with the next generation. These visits leave a lasting impact, not just for young players but for the whole community.”
AJ Wood, Blyth Snowtown Football Club President, is confident the Country connect weekend will further strengthen the club’s commitment to developing and inspiring its junior players.
"Country connect isn't something that comes around every year, so we're keen to make the most of it because the chance to learn from AFL and AFLW legends will be a great way to get our juniors excited about playing footy,” AJ says. “We have a proud history of nurturing talent, with past members like Josh Growden even reaching the heights of playing at a national level and punting in the American college football league. We’re incredibly fortunate to showcase what makes our town and club and help our young players dream big."
