With the 2025/26 harvest just around the corner, deliveries of old season grain were minimal during September.
Bunge Director Industrial Management, Gavin Cavanagh says Bunge’s team is finalising preparations for the upcoming harvest.
“Our sites are prepared for when farmers are ready to deliver, and our permanent and ongoing teams are onboarding harvest workers ready to provide additional support when deliveries pick up,” Gavin says.
“We’re also continuing to have discussions with farmers on their yield and quality expectations, to ensure our planned segregations match what they are likely to deliver.
“This supports the work we have done throughout the year to understand what commodities and varieties farmers are growing and gain early feedback on our draft segregations. Similar to last year, there has been a particular focus on lentils and canola, and we increased segregations for the commodities to match what’s being grown.”
Gavin says part of Bunge’s preparations include completing its annual capital expenditure and maintenance investment.
“This year we’ve invested $65 million across our SA and western Victorian network where it provides the greatest value to our customers by enhancing efficiencies and increasing reliability,” Gavin says.
“As part of this, new and upgraded drive over hopper stackers, front end loaders, weighbridges and bunkers will be at sites for harvest.”
To connect with customers Bunge’s employees have been attending various events such as field days and crop walks, in addition to hosting preharvest meetings for farmers across our network.
“These sorts of events give us the opportunity to discuss our plans for the upcoming harvest and beyond with farmers, including promoting our new and enhanced services, and sharing business and market updates,” Gavin says.
“It also gives farmers the opportunity to speak with their local team before we head into the busy period, and ask any questions they might have.
“It’s been great to catch up with many of our customers over the past few months, and we are looking forward to supporting them through the season and providing a high level of service.”
