Week ending Sunday 28 November 2021 report

  22-28 November Total 2021/22 harvest**
Viterra total receivals* 385,991 tonnes 1,065,663 tonnes
Western region receivals 107,187 tonnes 387,444 tonnes
Central region receivals 195,790 tonnes 546,563 tonnes

Growers delivered over 385,000 tonnes into Viterra sites in the biggest week so far, taking total receivals past the one million tonne milestone.

Viterra Operations Manager for the Central region Jack Tansley says Sunday was the largest volume day since the commencement of harvest.

"After a much awaited break in the weather, grower deliveries picked up, particularly through the Yorke Peninsula, and Snowtown and Bowmans areas," Jack says.

"Barley was the major commodity followed by wheat and canola, and we're starting to see some faba beans come in as well."

The Eastern region also enjoyed warmer weather and Bordertown, Strathalbyn and Wolseley all welcomed growers with the first loads of the season.

Viterra Operations Manager for the Eastern region Jo Klitscher says growers are delivering all commodities.

"With better weather conditions coming through, we'll be offering extended opening hours and look forward to seeing activity ramp up," Jo says.

Activity was generally slower in the Western region with some cold and wet weather, with growers delivering barley, wheat and pulses.

Viterra Operations Manager for the Western region Nick Pratt says the business is looking forward to harvest operations with a better forecast for this week.

"Our sites are ready for the increase in grower deliveries which we expect to see soon," Nick says.
