New digital delivery advice to save growers time in the Viterra app

Growers can save time and streamline their delivery process with Viterra’s new digital delivery advice launched into the Viterra app and ready for the 2021/22 harvest.

Viterra Chief Operations Officer James Murray says the business is very pleased to release this new service as a valuable tool for growers which can be used in place of the paper based system for all grower deliveries.

“The new service saves time for growers by prefilling regularly entered information and duplicating delivery advices,” James says.

“It will also save time at site by reducing the amount of information entered while a load of grain is being classified.

“There has been some favourable growing conditions leading into a promising harvest, so it is important to make the delivery process as efficient as possible for growers.”

With the digital delivery advice tool, growers only need to complete a declaration once for each commodity and variety in a paddock.

Other key benefits include ‘warehouse only’ to deliver loads directly to warehouse, nominate ‘any grade’ to lock in a preferred selling option regardless of the grade achieved at site, and know when a load is being classified with an ‘in progress’ status.

Michael Thompson who farms in Yorketown on the Yorke Peninsula tested the service last harvest for his deliveries into Viterra’s Port Giles site.

“This technology makes the delivery process easier, faster and improves the accuracy of information by 100%,” Michael says.

“We use multiple carriers and the digital delivery advice service makes the process more efficient. We can see exactly when the truck is sampled and weighed out, and our records on Ezigrain match the correct paddock each time.”

Since the trial, Viterra worked with Michael and other users to make further enhancements to the service based on their suggestions before releasing it to the wider grower community.

Ben from Malinong says using the service at harvest saves time in the paddock and at the sampling office.

“Having the option to set up the paddock information and declarations before harvest also eliminates costly mistakes that can be made in the old paper delivery advice book,” Ben says.

The digital delivery advice is a significant project and reflects Viterra’s continued investment in its services and supply chain to create value for its grower customers.
