A busy end to the year for the Viterra network

Viterra thanks all of its customers for their support during the 2023/24 harvest.

Since Viterra’s 2023/24 harvest kicked off on 25 September with Charra grower Jesse Chandler delivering a load of barley into Viterra’s Thevenard site, growers have delivered over 5 million tonnes to Viterra sites (as at 18 December).

As part of its harvest preparations, Viterra invested over $60 million on capital expenditure and maintenance across its network, including purchasing new equipment such as drive over hopper stackers and front end loaders and made upgrades to weighbridges and bunkers where it provided the greatest value to Viterra customers.

The business also had a successful harvest recruitment campaign with a high level of interest in the 1500 seasonal harvest roles to join Viterra’s 800 permanent employees to receive, store and connect local growers’ grain with end use markets around the world.

it was an earlier start to the season this year with growers across the state harvesting around 2-4 weeks ahead of a typical harvest.

The early start to the season saw Viterra growers break the company’s record for October receivals with over 925,000 tonnes of grain delivered in the month.

In connecting South Australian grain with international markets, Viterra exported 1 million tonnes of local growers’ grain in a bumper two months of shipping at Viterra’s SA port terminals, marking the first time in more than 10 years the business has loaded 1 million tonnes during October and November.

Viterra sites will be open to support growers harvesting over the Christmas and New Year period. Hours will vary from site to site based on grower consultation and harvest activity and will be available on the Viterra website and app closer to the holiday period.

Viterra’s grower services team will also be available to answer any grower enquiries. More information and hours can be found at viterra.com.au or by calling Viterra on 1800 018 205.

Viterra wishes all its employees, growers, carriers, buyer customers and local communities, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
