2 million tonnes of SA grain outturned for 40+ buyers

Viterra is continuing to deliver southern Australian grain to international and domestic customers, recently reaching a milestone 2 million tonnes of exports and outturns for the 2024/25 season.

Viterra General Manager Supply Chain, Derek Robjohns says Viterra has seen high numbers of buyers accessing its network to purchase grain this season, despite below average production.

“So far, over 40 buyers have purchased 2024/25 season grain delivered to our sites,” Derek says.

“This number is consistent with the buyers we see accessing our supply chain in stronger seasons, demonstrating the domestic and international demand for the high-quality SA grain growers produce.

“Of the buyers in our network, 23 have also posted cash prices for 2024/25 grain, which provides growers another option for selling their grain through our warehouse to cash service.

“We’ve also been working with more domestic buyers this season, enabling them to access our network to purchase grain and in turn support southern Australian growers.

Derek says having continued access to a wide range of domestic and international buyers regardless of seasonal conditions is positive for growers.

“This gives growers who deliver to Viterra more choice and competition when selling their grain, with access to pricing from multiple buyers sending grain to major markets around the world.”

Viterra’s effective supply chain, world class port terminals and strong quality management processes assist the company in finding and maintaining buyers and market access for southern Australian grain.

“This is also supported by the hard work of our employees, who consistently provide a high level of service to our customers, focusing on safely and efficiently moving grain and meeting their individual needs,” Derek says.

“The competitive service we offer across all aspects of our operations provides value to our buyer customers, leading them to continue to source grain from our network.”

In reaching 2 million tonnes of 2024/25 outturns, Viterra has loaded over 50 vessels with southern Australian growers’ grain on behalf of exporters, destined for 26 countries.
