Adelaide, Australia – 21 April 2026 – Premier agribusiness solutions company Bunge has announced a three-year partnership with Fat Farmers Rural Health Initiative, a grassroots organisation dedicated to transforming health and wellbeing within Australian rural communities.
Since its inception in 2012, Fat Farmers has grown from three farmers committing to the gym to improve their health, into a network of fitness sessions, walking groups and running clubs that exist in over 80 regional and rural towns across Australia for farmers and non-farmers alike.
The partnership will use Bunge’s Australian network to scale the reach and impact of Fat Farmers’ proven model of social fitness groups, encouraging customers and employees to join or start local Fat Farmers or Active Farmers groups in their towns.
“The alignment between the two organisations is a shared commitment to fostering a stronger, healthier future for regional communities,” says Philip Hughes, Bunge VP Australia - New Zealand. “We are pleased to support Fat Farmers in their mission to improve health and wellbeing in the communities many of our customers and employees live and work. Wellbeing and social connection is particularly important for rural agricultural communities to build resilience in navigating the unique pressures they face.”
For Dan Martens, Bunge Grain Merchant, participating in the Fat Farmers Adelaide group has been a welcome addition to his routine.
“I’m a huge advocate for the benefits physical activity can have on both physical and mental health and I’ve admired Fat Farmers since its inception,” says Dan. “It’s a great opportunity to get some exercise in and also spend time socially with some of our farmer customers and other industry people. We’ve had about 20 employees attend the Adelaide sessions, and through our partnership I look forward to encouraging anyone and everyone to get involved in whatever capacity they can.”
Fat Farmers CEO Richard Sheppy, welcomed the support, noting Bunge’s extensive national network will be vital in helping the initiative expand into more communities.
“We are very excited to welcome Bunge as a partner and look forward to growing our network and impact across the country,” says Richard. “Bunge has a strong history of supporting the local communities in which it operates, this partnership is another great example of their commitment and one which will undoubtedly result in improved health and wellbeing.”
