Bunge Donation Helps Keep the Coorong Region Connected

Adelaide, Australia – 28 April, 2026 - The Coomandook Amalgamated Pastimes Club has been named one of the regional South Australian organisations to receive a community donation from Bunge, a premier agribusiness solutions company connecting farmers to consumers of food, feed, and fuel.

The club has been awarded a $3000 donation following a nomination by Coomandook farmer, Matthew Pope, who is one of three recipients of Bunge’s postharvest survey community donations.

“I’m excited to see the money go towards the Pastimes Club because it’s community based and it’s important to keep our local infrastructure in good condition and workable order,” says Matthew. “Thank you to Bunge for the opportunity to have this money come to a small community like ours.”

The volunteer-run club manages key town facilities including the Coomandook Hall, tennis courts and post office, and supports local events. The donation will go towards important maintenance works at the Coomandook Hall.

“We’ll be using Bunge’s donation to install a new air conditioning unit to replace a system that has broken down in the Hall’s supper room," says Barb Williams, Coomandook Amalgamated Pastimes Club Secretary. “Everything we do is for the community, and we’re thrilled Matthew nominated the club.”

Other regional organisations to receive a $3000 donation from Bunge include the CFS Spencer Group and the Port Kenny and Districts Sports Centre.

Farmers and carriers were invited to enter the community donation award nominations by completing Bunge’s 2025/26 postharvest survey, providing feedback on the company’s harvest operations to help it understand what went well and areas for improvement.

“Our postharvest survey is one of the ways we gain insights from our customers to learn more about their experience during harvest, and identify ways we can keep improving,” says Andrew Cannon, Bunge Eastern Region Operations Manager. “Plus, providing the chance for customers to nominate a local organisation for a community donation is one way we can continue to support the regions we operate in and acknowledge the valuable feedback our customers provide.”

With a majority of its employees, customers and suppliers located in regional South Australia, Bunge drives a range of sponsorships and initiatives to contribute to the communities in which it operates, including supporting various farmer groups and events.
