Ten BlazeAid trailers full of tools and supplies have been deployed from their Viterra storage facilities to help fire affected communities rebuild on the lower Yorke Peninsula.
Viterra Operations Manager Jack Tansley says Viterra supports its local communities through direct contribution which includes in-kind support.
“We’ve previously donated funds in conjunction with growers for BlazeAid to purchase extra trailers and we’re also pleased to provide ongoing support by storing the fleet of 27 trailers,” Jack says.
“The work of BlazeAid and their committed volunteers in responding during times of need and helping communities rebuild after being devastated by fires is incredibly valuable.
“We’re extremely proud to support them because in turn we’re contributing to the recovery of the communities in which we also live and work.”
BlazeAid South Australian Representative Wendy Cope says Viterra’s support through donations and the ongoing storage of the fleet makes a huge difference.
“If we needed to pay for storage, it would be a drain on vital funds – thanks to Viterra we can instead use that money to buy tools and equipment needed to rebuild fences and other fire damaged structures,” Wendy says.
“We’re so grateful to have this secure undercover storage as it also means less maintenance costs for our fleet and ready access to our trailers when we need it.
“The support from businesses such as Viterra and our amazing volunteers makes rebuilding the Yorketown and Edithburgh communities possible.”
